It was just five months ago when iconic Cape Town entertainer Alistair Izobell decided to take a break from the music scene to dip a toe into the political pool.
That didn’t work out and now Ally is back for a fresh start with his latest show, called Alistair Izobell: The Rebirth: Greatest Showcase.
“This is not a variety show with an MC on stage between acts, this is a proper showcase,” he says.
“It’s reinventing myself with trends and things happening around me, after three decades I think it’s time for something a little different.”
The father of two says he’s ready to take on the stage again after a short stint in politics.
“I’ve realised I’ve always served audiences and that’s the greatest gift I have, once I knew the political arena didn’t have a seat for me, it was obvious I needed to work and do what I need to do to serve my family.”
Alistair reveals he did not leave Patricia De Lille’s GOOD party.
“I’m still very much involved in the party, for a party that is so young we did exceptionally well in the national elections and I wanted to pursue getting into the political arena to help more.
“I didn’t get a seat in the legislature, but I will be working in the forefront of the party. I’m designed to create and that’s what I’m going to do.”
The line-up for his comeback show includes Lira, Jeodhouse and Jarrad Ricketts, with more names to be revealed this week.

“Most of my audience don’t know what I do outside of Cape Town, where I do massive events. Cape Town has been spoilt by having access to me all the time.
“Lira is one of those artists I think are one of our most majestic performers and then Jarrad Ricketts is one of those hard working artists.

“For them it’s not about the fame and stardom but about serving, as it is for me.
“Jeodhouse is the most spoken about band in the Western Cape right now, they are going to be the backing band for all the artists.”
He adds: “I’ve been a trailblazer for many shows in Cape Town, my first show sold 15 000 tickets and no other artist has ever done that.
“I’ve been the guy who set the trends in Cape Town and I think I just need to re-establish that.”
Tickets to the show range from R500 to R1000.
