Just days after announcing his departure from Kfm, local radio jock Ryan O’Connor has had a change of Heart.
The Daily Voice can confirm that the veteran DJ will be joining the lineup at Heart FM in March 2020.
Heart FM confirmed in a press release on Friday that Ryan will take over the driver’s seat from Suga on Drive 3-6 and joins Jeremy Harris on sport and traffic presenter Jo-Dee Butler.
Earlier this week neither Ryan or Heart FM station manager, Denver Apollus would confirm what insiders had told the Daily Voice, that Ryan was indeed joining the Heart family.
Ryan said he was leaving Kfm to spend time with his family and “who knows what could happen next.”
Apollus would also not confirm what the Daily Voice already knew and said he had “a conversation with him (Ryan) but that’s where it ended.”
Following the announcement, Denver said: “Ryan is excited to join the team and we are looking forward to unleashing Ryan’s creative radio content which will excite our listeners across the board.”
But that’s not the only big announcement.
The station also announced that Irma G will be leaving at the end of February.
“Irma has been a valuable part of the Heart FM team for many years and has had many memorable moments both on and off-air. She leaves a deep footprint in the hearts and lives of listeners and colleagues at the station,” says Vernon Nel, Programme Manager.
Suga will move to the 9-12 slot.
