Known for her kwaai lyrical abilities all over South Africa, rapper Patty Monroe is back with a new project.
Since her last song called Fighter, released in November 2019, the Cape Town motormouth is coming out of hibernation with some fresh beats.
“It’s been a while and I’ve been quite busy with gigs all over SA and performing my old music but on Friday, I’ll be releasing some brand new tracks you’re gonna love,” she tells the Daily Voice.
On 28 February, Patty will be releasing her six-track EP called Fill Ya Cup Vol1.

“ Fill Ya Cup is about a woman who thinks she is ready for a relationship because that’s what she sees all around her when, in fact, she has so much to heal from and self-love to experience.
“Everybody is asking her where her boyfriend is and why she isn’t married. Nobody ever asks if she’s happy or if she’s achieved her goals,” says Patty.
The first instalment of the two part release has Patty playing around with her signature versatility, embracing Afro Pop and Hip Hop while further exploring the more alternative sound she found on her previous EP called Reminiscing.
Patty was discovered on the Ready D Cypher Sessions in 2013.
She fell deeper in love with her continent on her East African tour a couple of years back when she visited Kenya and Uganda.
“The world is changing and so is Patty Monroe. This is just a taste of what’s yet to come.”
Patty says she dreams of one day performing alongside Rihanna, Shekinah and Rouge.
Fill Ya Cup Vol.1 will be available on all major streaming platforms on Friday.
