In a nail-biting episode of The Voice South Africa on Sunday night, Capetonian Amy Tjasink was booted off the show.
Amy, 26, from Fish Hoek, received the fewest votes and reached the end of her journey on Season 3 of the popular singing contest.
This was the first time Amy landed in the Danger Zone, but unfortunately her unique sound was not enough to convince the voting public.
“My journey on The Voice was an absolutely educational, inspirational and humbling experience. I am so incredibly grateful to have been given this opportunity and that I made it to the top 7,” she said.

Amy says the competition has boosted her confidence as a singer.
“Before this show, I had a lot of self-doubt and this whole experience gave me the fuel I needed to believe in myself again.
“I’d like to thank the public who voted and supported me as well as coach Riky Rick and the production team for always pushing me to do my best.”
She adds: “My journey is not over though, I’d like to work on a few collaborations, but mostly I’d like to do a schools tour and workshops to help young kids of South Africa to grow in the music industry.”

Before entering the competition, Amy travelled the world entertaining guests on cruise ships and also released an album, Simplify Me, last year.
“I stopped working on cruise ships because I was becoming detached from my real dream of releasing my own music,” she explained.
She and her fiancé left London for her to audition for The Voice SA.
