The Address in Athlone was lit on Friday night when local musicians came together to raise their voice for a good cause.
Eight-year-old Tamzin Adams was diagnosed with Juvenile Pilocytic Astrocyma, a type of cancer, in November 2017.
Her mother, Andrea Phillips, struggles to pay her medical costs, including transport to hospital thrice a week.
Andrea can’t work during the day as she looks after Tamzin, but works as a bartender at a nightclub to make ends meet and this is where saxophonist Donveno Prins and his wife, Ronelle, met Andrea.
Ronelle and Donveno roped in the help of their friends, artists Tye Platinum, Salome Damons, Karin Kortje, The Pedestrians, Major 7 SA and Souljourn SA.
There were also prizes galore for lucky draw winners.
Andrea was brought to tears when Ronel and Donveno called her and her husband, Glen, to stage.
“I want to thank God for everything He has done for us. He used angels like Ronel and Donveno to come our way and be a blessing in our lives,” the mom said.
“Also to all the artists and people who supported this event, thank you.”
Ronelle says Making Music for Tamzin was a huge success!
“The amount of support we received from everyone was beyond our expec- tation.
“We raised the amount we had in mind and everyone had a great time, which was what we ultimately wanted.
“While I was busy putting the event together, I always felt that even though the reason for the event was because of a child who is terminally ill, I wanted the theme of Friday to be Celebrating Life.”
