It’s that time of the year again, the day that every factory girl has been waiting for. It’s the South African Clothing and Textile Workers’ Union (Sactwu) Spring Queen 2019.
The ladies are downing their tools, switching off their machines and dropping the bolts of material to dazzle at the textile workers’ pageant.
You know it’s end of the year when the factory girls start creating their banners with the faces of their queen candidates who they hope will bring the title home.
This year, 56 contestants will compete for the grand title at the Athlone Stadium on Saturday.

There is also a Junior Spring Queen category where 20 queens will compete.
To round off the competition, Sactwu’s Own Talent will see six contestants battle it out in the music and dance stakes.
Last year’s Spring Queen was Caledon beauty, Yolandri August, from Prestige Clothing.
The atmosphere is definitely going to be electrifying as supporting factory workers go all out for their queens.
