Cape Flats funnyman Devdondidit has been catfished on a dating site.
But in true comedic style, the lagbol social media star chose to see the lighter side of things, saying he hopes the identity thief isn’t swiping right for goffels.
Devon Saunders says he was notified by two friends on Monday that his face was being used on a profile on popular hook-up site Tinder by someone called “Jason”.
“This is not the first time this has happened. The last time some boy from Palembang in Indonesia took my name and photo. I reported it to Facebook but they didn’t get back to me,” Devon says.
Although he is finding the humour in the situation, Devon says he is a bit worried a local girl might have swiped right for his photo.
“It’s scary. Imagine I walk in a mall, and then she says, he thinks he poops ice cream. He can’t say hello, but we talk online,” he laughs.
But all jokes aside, he adds: “Catfishing is a serious thing and some people do it for all the wrong reasons, like to spy on an ex.
“This could definitely affect future jobs, potential brands who would want to work with Devdondidit but then they hear a story at a braai and don’t want to work with me.”
He says the picture being used was taken last year and was jepped from his Facebook account.
On the Tinder account, “Jason” claims he is 30 and studies at the University of the Western Cape.
“I don’t know how to report this on Tinder. I had to laugh when I saw UWC. I then left school at lunch break,” Devon jokes.
There’s also the “very real danger” that Jason is a failure on Tinder.

“What if Jason gets no likes? I’ll be embarrassed. I am single, this person is trying to cockblock me. What if he’s swiping for goffels?” he says, horrified.
Devon says he believes Jason is just some random dude who stole his pic.
“He probably just wants some nudes. If someone wants to be me they’re welcome, but can they also help me around the house, pay my rent, and my debt,” he jokes.
