Brazen robbers have targeted another KFC restaurant..
The latest robbery took place at the branch in Rosmead Avenue, Claremont, just before 10pm on Friday night.
Four armed men emptied the till and safe at the end of a busy day at the restaurant, and fled on foot.
Police say a 43-year-old KFC employee was inside the fast food eatery when he was confronted by the armed gang.
One of the suspects told the worker to be quiet and ordered the cashier to open the till.
They were also warned not to press the panic button to alert police and security.
The other three suspects then opened the till and emptied the money into big bags they brought with them.
Office staff were then ordered to open the safe, as skelms took the safe’s money before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk explains: “The complainant was busy at the workplace when he was approached by an unknown male telling him to keep quiet and threatened the complainant with a firearm and ordered him to go inside.
“While inside, three males also came in and told the cashier to open the till and not press the panic button. The suspects then took two drawers out of the tills and put it inside big bags and they went to the office to tell the staff to open the safe and they took cash and they ran away.”
Van Wyk said no shots were fired and no one was injured. It is not clear if there were any customers in the store at the time of the robbery.
“A business robbery case was opened for investigation.”
The suspects are still at large and no arrests have been made yet.
KFC spokeswoman Lebo Sekere says they are investigating the incident and could not say how much cash was taken.
On October 12, the branch inside the Promenade Mall in Mitchells Plain was held up by two armed skelms.
Two people were pistol-whipped and one employee dragged across the floor by the robbers who made off with the breakfast cash float.
