Thiago Alcantara is praying for a miracle to keep Liverpool’s Champions League qualifying dream alive.
The midfielder sealed a 2-0 Premier League win over Southampton on Saturday with a brilliantly-curled first goal since joining from Bayern Munich at the start of the season after Sadio Mane headed Jurgen Klopp’s ahead in the 31st minute.

The Spain international’s 90th-minute strike means the sixth-placed Reds are six points behind Leicester in fourth.
And Thiago says of their chances: “I always try to bring out the reality – we are for sure not happy with the situation right now, but for the mood [and] for the confidence for the next game, we are very happy with the win.
“We try to be as objective as possible. There is a very small chance, but I think we had chances in the past. The door sometimes closed for us but the window is open, so we try to get through the window!

“It’s an amazing feeling [to score] but the most important thing is the three points and that we keep fighting for this small miracle that we can have.”
Boss Jurgen Klopp knows their kanse are maar skraal and urged his team to win all four of their last games – starting against bitter rivals Manchester United on Thursday.
He says: “Our situation changed slightly but only for us, for the other teams not too much because they are still in a better position and we know that.
“The only thing we can do is [keep] winning our games but that's really tough because we play Manchester United on Thursday and that's historically not easy – but we will give it a try.”
