The Premier League players will now be able to start “contact training”, but think of it as “tickle tackle”.
This after Wednesday's vote to move on to Phase Two of their Covid-19 return-to-play protocols passed unanimously.
Since last Monday up until today, clubs were small-group training, with just five manne and a coach in sessions no longer than 75 minutes. But now they will be able to start with 11 v 11 training with tackling, with no time restrictions.
But there won’t be woelige play, as a statement reads: “Squads are now able to train as a group and engage in tackling while minimising any unnecessary close
contact.”
The Prem is known for its tough tackling, but players will now be asked to hold back a bietjie to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
The statement adds: “Stage Two of the Return to Training protocol has been agreed following consultation with clubs, players, managers, the PFA, LMA and the government.
“Discussions are ongoing as work continues towards resuming the season, when conditions allow.”
The Premier League will continue with streng coronavirus prevention measures, with players and staff players getting tested for Covid-19 twice a week.
So far there have only been eight positive tests - Watford defender Adrian Mariappa and Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale are the notable players.
