Sebastian Vettel led the Formula One world
championship just one week ago but now heads into the midseason break
24 points behind Lewis Hamilton after two races to forget.
He crashed on home tarmac in Germany last weekend while leading,
gifting Hamilton the victory, while he had bad luck in Hungary this
weekend with rain in qualifying aiding Hamilton and a Ferrari pitstop
error not helping in Sunday's race.
"It was a tough race. I had a good start, was in third, we did well
then it was a bit tricky knowing when to come out (and enter the
pits)," he told reporters.
"Then I had an issue with the pit stop and came out behind Valtteri
(Bottas)."
Vettel eventually overtook Bottas with five laps left, albeit with
Bottas shunting into the side of his Ferrari, but the damage had been
done with not coming out second following the pit stop.
In truth he probably would not have caught polesitter Hamilton anyway
and the four-times champion was trying to look on the bright side as
he goes on holiday ahead of the season's resumption in Belgium on
August 26.
"Second was not what we wanted but is the best we could have done,"
he said.
