Cape Town City have released midfielder Mark Mayambela after a short spell at the club.
The 32-year-old joined the Citizens as a free agent at the insistence of former coach Benni McCarthy in October.
But the former Orlando Pirates and Ajax Cape Town winger has been deemed surplus by coach Jan Olde Riekerink, who wants to cut his squad down to 23 players ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
Meanwhile, in-form Cape Town City striker Kermit Erasmus believes there is a good vibe at the club again and it will serve them well ahead of their PSL trip to Maritzburg on Friday evening (8pm).

With nine goals to his name already, Erasmus says: “It’s important to bring good energy to the team – positive energy that can rub off on your teammates for the team to benefit and positive results are achieved.”
