The Springboks are trying their best not to be caught off guard by Australia in their Rugby Championship Test in Brisbane on Saturday.
With the match scheduled to kick off at 8pm local time, Bok backline coach Mzwandile Stick says they are preparing their charges for a nightmare.
He explains: “Back home we always play in the late afternoon while over the next two weeks we will be playing in the evening, which obviously means that on match-days the boys will be active much later in the day.
“If you think about late games [in South Africa] – it kicks off at 7pm.
“Now [on Saturday we’ll start at] 8pm, and we must make sure our preparation is closer to that time in everything we are doing.
“We had a late gym session today and we’re also trying to push our field sessions to late afternoon. It’s something that we have to get used to.”
Of what to expect from Australia this weekend, Stick adds: “It’s going to be a tough game – the Aussies would also want to bounce back [after their back-to-back defeats to the All Blacks].”
