Benni McCarthy is being lined up for a role as Bafana Bafana’s European scout.
The Bafana goalscoring legend is a free agent since being sacked by Cape Town City last Sunday.
With McCarthy having since moved back to Scotland to be with his infant son and family, national team boss Molefi Ntseki reckons the 41-year-old is perfectly based to keep an eye on Bafana SA’s foreign-based talents.

Ntseki says: “When you look at the roll-out plan I presented to [Safa] president [Danny Jordaan] we must have a scout overseas, basically there must be two.
“They will be helping each other, one will look at the junior players and the other for senior players.
“It will be difficult to have one running around trying to get all the players if we only had one scout overseas.
“It is unfortunate that coach Benni had to lose his job at Cape Town City but that doesn’t mean anything bad about him.
“He is still a good coach, and when the time comes we will consider him [as a scout].”

Ntseki is also keen to sort out his technical team on a permanent basis as soon as possible.
His current backroom staff of Trott Moloto and Arthur Zwane are both helping out in the interim as Bafana kick off their Afcon 2021 qualifying campaign against Ghana in Cape Coast on Thursday at 9pm.
