Cristiano Ronaldo’s former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville, says the Portuguese needs to be reminded wie’s baas at Old Trafford.
The dikding striker returned to Old Trafford this season vowing to bring back the glory days for the Red Devils and has scored five goals in seven games.
But the 36-year-old stormed off the pitch at the end of Saturday’s 1-1 home Premier League draw with Everton, having started on the bench for the first time since his return.
And Neville reckons that toe-neus Ronaldo is making things worse for coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with United having failed to win four out of their last seven games in all competitions.
SkySports pundit Neville says: “I watched him walk off and I can’t say I like it.
“Actions like that – and Cristiano is smart enough to know this – will bring real pressure on the manager, more pressure than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is already under.”
Neville adds: “I think he will have a word with Cristiano and say, ‘look, come on, if you’re going to do that, let’s do it in the changing room’.
“Ultimately, you doing that on the pitch brings extra pressure, he does have that reputation and I don’t think it would have helped Ole in that situation.”
Dutch legend Danny Blind, father of former United defender Daley, meanwhile, believes five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo is the cause of United’s problems.
Blind tells Sportnieuws in the Netherlands: “[Ronaldo] only thinks about goals and hopes others will conquer the ball.”
