In Unai Emery, Arsenal has seemingly picked up a coach Arsene Wenger would have been proud of signing during his early years as Gunners boss.
Emery has flown under the radar in England - much like Patrick Vieira before Wenger signed him. But the Spaniard has been around the block.
He has coached in Spain with Valencia and Sevilla, Russia and most recently France - with varying degrees of success.
With Valencia, he managed two Champions League qualifying campaigns.
He enjoyed real success at Sevilla, where he won a hattrick of Europa League titles before catching the eye of PSG, were he won two domestic cups in his first season and added the league title in a treble this season.
That means that in the past five seasons, Emery has won as many trophies as any manager in the European game - eight.
His winning record is as good as Pep Guardiola and Zinedine Zidane, when it comes to the amount of silverware.
It tells you one thing: he is a winner. And that should excite Arsenal fans.
At 46, he has proven that he is a proper student of the game and innovated with his tactics, causing many of his more illustrious and better-resourced rivals lots of upsets.
So he has all the ingredients to be a success, even though he is a relative unknown.
The ties to Wenger don’t end there. He has a great record of improving young players. At PSG, he has turned Adrien Rabiot into a top performer.
Plus two of his protégés - defender Presnel Kimpembe of France and Argentinian midfielder Giovani Lo Celso are both going to the World Cup after breakout seasons.
Arsenal fans will love that he plays an attacking and exciting game that they have become known for, but Emery must tighten up things at the back.
One thing that will worry Gunners is how he handles big egos. After one season in Paris, £200m-man Neymar looks like he is on the way out. But then again, Arsenal aren’t going to spend that kind of money.
