Liverpool stretched their lead at the top of the Premier League to 16 points with a 2-0 win over rivals Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday night.
Jurgen Klopp’s manne went about their work like men trying to right a wrong, having only been denied victory in the league once this season – by United at Old Trafford in October.
And they took the lead in the 14th minute of the clash they already through their towering centreback Virgil van Dijk.
The pressure had been building and the big Dutchman outjumped Harry Maguire at a corner to head home the opener.
The Reds thought they had doubled their lead through Roberto Firmino in the 25th minute, but the goal was disallowed for a foul by Van Dijk on goalkeeper David de Gea as United struggled to keep Liverpool out of their penalty area.
Gini Wijnaldum held his hands on his head 10 minutes later when his goal was ruled for offside.
And then Sadio Mane’s drilled shot was denied by De Gea’s boot as the Reds bossed the game until the half time whistle.
After the break, it was more of the same from the hosts, with Jordan Henderson’s drive tipped onto the upright by De Gea.

It was only on the hour mark when United came close to hurting Liverpool, when Anthony Martial created a chance for himself with a one-two with Andreas Pereira but fired the return ball into the stands from close range.
The Reds finally had their second goal when Mo Salah scored his first goal against United in injury time after a long pass from goalkeeper Alisson.
