Kagiso Rabada don’t want people to come to him with ou stories, he believes this Proteas team is writing its own history.
South Africa’s struggles at World Cups have been well documented over the years, with the team yet to bag gold at these events.
The term “chokers” has been used in the past, as it is often one big balls-up that has cost the team in years gone by.
Forget it, says Rabada who believes this is finally the golden generation.
As they get ready to face Australia in their T20 World Cup opener on Saturday, the Proteas fast bowler says: “I don’t like to talk about baggage – what happened in the past happened in the past.
“We have a challenge in front of us, I mean no one in the past has tried to lose games. We’re coming in with the same mentality – whether we have baggage or not, it’s not worth talking about.”
Of what it would mean to him to win gold, Rabada adds: “It will be extremely special, it will probably be my biggest life achievement in sport. That’s what it would be.
“It’s one of the highest achievements in cricket and that’s really what’s missing. That will add the icing to the cake. We hope we’re the generation that could bring it.”
