Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy is hoping his side’s winning start to PSL season continues at Baroka on Wednesday night (7.30pm).
City hit the ground running with a 2-0 win over SuperSport United on Saturday and Benni says it’s down to their tough pre-season.
Games against Wits, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs gave City the tests needed to up their game.
And Benni reveals: “I’m very happy for the boys and the attitude they had and how they came into the game and the way they finished it.
“Playing Chiefs, Pirates and Wits in pre-season gave a clear indication in term of where we are – our fitness levels and where we are with the quality in the team, where we should adjust and better ourselves.
“Those three games gave us a real kick up the backside, because we knew exactly the areas of our game we need to work on.”
City now find themselves in the thick of the action, with a first away trip of the season in midweek and then a visit to Maritzburg in the MTN8 first round.
Benni says they will have to do the right physical work to get on top of their game.
The Bafana Bafana legend adds: “It’s a good start – three points.
“So now we can go away and focus on the next one and recover.
“Recovery is very important with the games coming thick and fast.”
