Cape Town City boss Benni McCarthy says “bogey side” Baroka can expect a different team when his manne arrive in Polokwane on Wednesday night (7.30pm).
City and Baroka have been the new boys in rukking the ding in the PSL over the past two seasons.
But in head-to-heads between the two sides, City didn’t beat the Limpopo side last season.
In last term’s corresponding fixture, Baroka beat City 2-0 on their home ground in Polokwane, before earning a 1-1 draw in the Cape. They also knocked City out of the Telkom Knockout last year.
And for Benni and manne, motivation to get one over Bakgaga, who lost their first game of the season 1-0 at AmaZulu, couldn’t be higher.
After beating SuperSport United in their season opener on Saturday, confidence is high too.
And Benni says: “Baroka will face a different City team.
“They’ve always been our bogey team.
“Last season, though, we conceded silly goals against them, some of them from 45 metres out.
“In those games, I always felt afterwards that we should have won, but this time I’m a lot more positive coming up against Baroka. We are a lot more solid now, especially in goal, with new goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh.”
