Jose Mourinho blames his players after Manchester United lost 3-1 at West Ham on Saturday.
It was United’s third defeat of the Premier League campaign and second in the week after being knocked out of the League Cup by Derby in midweek.
The Hammers took advantage of a defensive formation by Mourinho and went 2-0 up inside the first half thanks to strikes from Felipe Anderson and Victor Lindelof own goal.
United hit back through substitute Marcus Rashford, but Marko Arnautovic put the Londoners out of sight with 20 minutes to go.
According to reports, Jose slammed Alexis Sanchez ahead of the game before dropping him and after match hung out Anthony Martial to dry, as the Frenchman struggled the drive the counter.
Martial has been one of Mourinho’s scapegoats, along with Paul Pogba, Eric Bailly and Romelu Lukaku.
And after calls to play more of his attacking talent, he says: “I want to play Martial – something that you are asking for a long, long time – and I left Alexis out.
“Martial is not a player very, very focused on his defensive duties.”
When Mourinho was asked whether enough of his other players have the right mentality, he replied: “Not all of them.”
Mourinho would name names when blaming referee Michael Oliver for a perceived offside before Pablo Zabaleta crossed for Felipe Anderson’s opener and a foul by Zabaleta on Rashford that was not given in the buildup to Marko Arnautovic’s third goal.
He says: “The first was an offside goal. And the third was a referee mistake [by Michael Oliver], although we were not very good in the transition.”
