Mzansi football legend Lucas Radebe believes he and former players can save the South African game.
The former Bafana Bafana captain still dreams of heading up Safa after his bid for the presidency last year was stopped by a technicality.
According to Safa rules, one has to have been an affiliate of a local football association for five years in order to contest for the Safa elections.
And the Leeds United hero tackled that issue with the same tenacity as he did as a celebrated centreback in the Premier League and Bafana colours by working with local FAs in his native Soweto.
The 50-year-old says: “Yes, the desire to lead Safa is still there. I’m still busy with the local football association in Diepkloof.

“I’m busy with them to see how we can speed up the process.”
However, Rhoo is not keen to see current chief Danny Jordaan and his like kicked out of Safa House.
Having led SA at two World Cups, the defender says he is willing to work with and learn from the current leaders to see what can be improved on.
The former Kaizer Chiefs backliner adds: “I’m not saying that the current leadership must just go. But we need to have a succession plan.

"Why can’t they bring us in and we learn from them because there will be a time when they have to go.
“Who is going to take over? Unless they have people they have identified and they have them under their wings waiting to come in.
“It is not just about me but it is about the country. It is about ex-players contributing.
“There’s a lot that we can offer.”
