David Silva warns that Premier League champions Manchester City are getting better with every match.
City followed up their 5-0 win over Burnley in the league with a 3-0 Champions League win at Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday night.
Pep Guardiola’s manne seemed to have kicked into another gear since the end of the Fifa break last week.
And silky schemer Silva, who got the opener with a 30-minute volley, says: “I think we are playing better every game. We need to improve a little bit more but we are in a good way.
“If we play like this, we will get more points. We could have scored a lot of goals. We scored three and we had a lot of chances, so we are happy with three points.
“The Champions League is difficult, and this [Donetsk] is a tough place to come but we did really well, so we are happy.”
Silva’s stunner was followed five minutes later by Aymeric Laporte’s headed goal as City ran riot in a first-half coach Pep Guardiola described as the best since he arrived to move his team top of Group F.
Guardiola says: “First half we were outstanding. We made a very good performance. We controlled it.
“Second half, they push a lot with five, six players in front. It was complicated but every time we regained the ball and ran, we made a good chance on the counter attack.”
By the time substitute Bernardo Silva scored with his first touch of the game with a 71st-minute shot from the edge of the box, City were already thinking about their next assignment – a Monday night Prem trip to Wembley to take on Tottenham.
