Frank Lampard took a step closer to being named Chelsea boss, with talks expected to finalised after two days of negotiations.
Lampard was given Monday and Tuesday off from his job at Derby with the Rams saying they want things to be “concluded as soon as possible”.
The 40-year-old is set to sign a three-year deal at Stamford Bridge, worth £4m a season.
Lamps, who scored a club record 211 goals in 648 games for the Blues, is favourite to succeed Maurizio Sarri after the Italian took over at Juventus last month.
With Chelsea set to serve a two-window transfer ban, the former midfielder will get straight to work with the current and look to integrate players from the academy into the first team ahead of the new Premier League season.
