Manchester United welcomed Frank Lampard to the Premier League coaching ranks with a 4-0 pak last night.
Lampard, who was in charge of his first top-flight match, saw his Blues picked off by Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial at Old Trafford.
The Blues started off on the front foot with striker Tammy Abraham hitting the post in the fourth minute with a piledriver from the edge of the box.
Martial got United’s first sight at goal after eight minutes, but his weak effort from just inside the area was snaffled up by Kepa.
The Blues tried their luck again in the 12th minute as debutant Mason Mount’s deflected long-range shot was held by David de Gea.
Then United broke the deadlock after Kurt Zouma brought down Rashford after 17 minutes and the Red Devils striker made no mistake from the spot.
After a spell of dominance by the hosts, the Blues were denied by the woodwork again, when Emerson Palmeiri came close.
Following the break, Chelsea continued to push for the equaliser, pushing United back with the hosts content to hit out on the counter.
And they landed a devastating 1-2 as Martial and Rashford made the score 3-0 in the blink of an eye.
A raid upfield by saw Andreas Pereira’s cross turned in from close range by Martial in the 65th minute and then moments from the restart Rashford raced onto a long ball and beat Kepa in a one-on-one situation.
United put the cherry on the cake when new boy Daniel James stabbed home a Paul Pogba assist in the 89th minute.
