Cape Town City will need warriors to get the better of AmaZulu as Usuthu boss Cavin Johnson takes his manne to “war” on Tuesday night (7.30pm).
The former Ajax Cape Town youth coach tells Kickoff: “We go to war when we are playing against other teams in the Telkom Knockout and the league, we are going to war.
“I use the word ‘war’ because this is the only team... that is named after the warrior.”
With Johnson reminding his team of the spirit of the club, City boss Benni McCarthy has a similar job on his hands.
The Citizens go into their Durban Telkom Knockout last-16 clash already having lost the feel-good factor of winning the MTN8 at the end of September.
Since lifting the trophy, City have not won in two PSL outings.
Part of the problem for Benni and City’s fortunes has been their goalscoring form - they have not found the net in three matches.
But City may finally be able to unleash new striker Tokelo Rantie in the KZN clash tonight.
The Bafana Bafana hitman linked up with his former Orlando Pirates attack partner, Benni, before the close of the transfer window on a free transfer, but has been biding his time to get back to full fitness.
