It’s kill or be killed for Liverpool tomorrow night against Southampton as they chase a Champions League spot.
The Premier League holders’ reign is all but over with Manchester City needing to beat Chelsea tomorrow to take the Merseysiders’ crown.
But worse still for Jurgen Klopp and his manne is missing out on Europe, with the seventh-placed Reds seven points off the top four with a game in hand on their rivals.
They have a chance of making up some ground at 9.15pm tomorrow, with a win over a Saints side that will miss up to six first team regulars for the clash. But Klopp warns there may be no Europe at all if they don’t start scoring goals and winning.
The German says: “Without winning football games we will not end up in any kind of European competition.
“So for us, everything is clear. We have to win.
“Playing Champions League is massive, especially from a financial point of view for the club. If we don’t make, that’s not good.”
The Reds have been wasteful in front of goal, with Klopp pointing out that for all the chances they create for the likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, they have to make it count.
He adds: “In the last three games we had 36 chances and only scored twice. It’s obviously not a number you want to have.
“We try to help the boys score. But we don’t shout and say ‘why didn’t you score’.
“When missing chances costs you, it can hurt you
“The only way to get over it is try to make the right decision in front of goal.”
