Stellenbosch striker Ryan Moon has landed a dream move to Europe.
The 24-year-old international hitman, who has eight caps for South Africa to his name, signed a three-year deal with Swedish top-tier club Varbergs Bois FC yesterday and will join them with immediate effect.
The KZN-born ace’s Kaapse draai wasn’t a long one after joining Stellies from Kaizer Chiefs at the start of last season.
And of securing a move to Europe, Moon, who had a trial with Scottish club Hibernian in 2019, says: “I am incredibly excited and can not wait to get started.
“As a player, I am humble and a hard-working team player who always strives to develop and be useful to the team. “I see my goal threat, runs and speed as my greatest strengths.
“I know Varbergs Bois thanks to the South African players who are already in the team.”
Of his departure, Stellies coach Steve Barker says: “It is always pleasing to see players follow their dreams. Ryan has always wanted to ply his trade in Europe and we’re happy for a player like that to go on and achieve what he has set out. We wish him all the best.”
Moon was part of a double South African swoop by the Swedes ahead of the campaign’s kickoff on April 10.
He joins 22-year-old Capetonian defender Dean Solomons, who transferred from Ajax Amsterdam after impressing for Jong Ajax in the Ducth second division.
The duo adds to Varbergs’ Mzansi flavour, with Tashreeq Matthews (20) Luke le Roux (21) and Keanin Ayer (20) already at the club.
