Impi Visser is ready to dive in head first into international rugby waters when the Blitzboks start their defence of their Sevens Series title in Dubai this weekend.
Winners of the last two tournaments in the desert, South Africa have been drawn with Argentina, Samoa and Zimbabwe in Pool A.
And Visser, the only possible debutant in the squad, reveals that coach Neil Powell’s advice to the squad ahead of their tournament opener against neighbours Zimbabwe at 8.52 am on Friday is for everyone to play their own game.
Visser explains: “Coach Neil [Powell] always stresses on the importance of doing your job in the team, to fulfil your responsibilities in the team.
“By doing that, everyone else can function and prosper.
“That will be my focus in my first tournament, just doing my job.
“And, of course, enjoying it!”

The 23-year-old adds of possibly playing in his first match: “It is an amazing feeling and I cannot wait.
“This is just so unbelievable, but true.
“It was such a tough year for me, but that is all in the past now.
“I am so honoured and privileged to be able to be here and to use this opportunity presented to me.”
Having spent time with the squad in pre-season and also Dubai, Visser says it’s clear why the Blitzboks are the top-ranked team for the tournament.
He adds: “This is just an amazing group of guys.
“They always have a joke up their sleeves, but are so committed and professional when it comes to the Blitzboks.
“Their experience and skills are certainly something I can feed from.
“There is so much to learn from them and to add to my own arsenal as a player.”
After their tournament opener against Zim, SA faces Samoa in their second game at 12.36 pm, before ending their pool phase against Argentina at 5.53 pm.
