Seabelo Senatla will not be going to next year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Instead, the Blitzboks’ all-time leading try-scorer will aim to become a XVs Springbok.
That was confirmed by coach John Dobson at his first media briefing at the High Performance Centre in Bellville on Monday.

Dobson says: “Seabelo Senatla and Ruhan Nel are there [in the Sevens camp] now, they come back after Cape Town Sevens.
“Seabelo [will be back] full-time [at the Stormers] and then Ruhan, if selected, goes to Tokyo.
“Seabelo is absolutely convinced that he can become a XVs Springboks. He’s discounting quite a lot in terms of wages to do that. I hope he makes it.”
Dobson adds: “He [Senatla] is really keen [to become a Bok] - I know there’s challenge around box kicks and those things, but with Senatla, Sergeal [Petersen], Dillyn [Leyds], [Leolin] Zas and Edwill [van der Merwe], our chase-line is going to be really good.”
FLYHALF OPTION: Dillyn Leyds. Picture: BackpagePix.
Despite being linked with a move to English club Wasps, it looks like Leyds is staying in the Mother City, with Dobson also planning to use him as a backup flyhalf in case of emergency.

In a further boost to their back-three, wing Zas also took part in training on Monday.
MIDFIELDER: Michal Haznar. Picture: Chris Ricco/BackpagePix.
Having re-signed from the Sharks, he was joined by another backline player that left Cape Town and then came back, Michal Harznar. Centre Harznar returns to the Mother City after a stint at Griquas.
