Western Province coach John Dobson says his side’s defence will have to improve ahead of their clash with Griquas this weekend.
WP smashed the Golden Lions 65-38 at Ellis Park last weekend and while they turned on the style on attack, it’s the fact that they leaked 38 points that is a worry for Dobson.
Of the match against the Lions, Dobson says: “We weren’t overly thrilled with our defence.
“We knew about the steppers and we knew we’d have to box them in, and I think sometimes we didn’t do that very well.
“I also think we gave them too many line breaks and our maul defence can improve.”
Happy with the result in the end, he adds: “We wanted to play a certain way, it’s tough up at Ellis Park.
“This scoreline is a complete reversal of what we’ve had the last three years, so for us it’s a massive turnaround."
