The Sharks held off a Blues fightback to claim a 26-7 Super Rugby win in Durban on Saturday.
At half-time, the Sharks led 19-0 and looked set for a comfortable victory. However, they ultimately had to stave off a resurgent Blues effort in the third quarter.
The Sharks started with a bang, scoring three first-half tries through Aphelele Fassi, Akker van der Merwe and Robert du Preez.
However, the visitors did finally find a way over the tryline when debutant Tanielu Tele’a scored.
It led to a nervy finish for the Sharks, but Curwin Bosch would score through an intercept try late in the game to finally seal a deserved result for the Durbanites.
