The Bulls and Lions players and staff who toured to Australia for the now-postponed Super rugby tournament will self-quarantine for 14 days after they arrive back in South Africa.
Sanzaar issued a statement over the weekend that Super Rugby had been suspended at the conclusion of round seven matches.
Lions CEO Rudolf Straeuli say: “These are difficult circumstances, but people’s health comes first.
“Sanzaar is in ongoing discussions with broadcasters and have been keeping everyone informed of the decisions. The situation will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.”

Lions coach Ivan van Rooyen says the break will give them a chance to regroup after just one victory this season.
He says: “Obviously there are certain areas we need to work on, and we’ll keep at it.
“But there are certain things we’re doing better; our rucking was definitely better this week, and the scrum was good.
“In the current circumstances, I don’t know when we’ll get back [to playing].
“We’ve been forced to be at home for 14 days, and will now do a thorough review of where we are, and how to fix [certain things].
