The Springboks will go out to play an attacking game against New Zealand at Loftus on Saturday.
Having won their last two matches - against New Zealand in Wellington and Australia in Port Elizabeth - with a strong defensive game, hooker Malcolm Marx believes it’s time to show what they can do with ball in hand.
Marx says: “We obviously want to attack a bit more. I thought we were on the defence quite a bit [against Australia].”
While they have beaten the world champions in the last meeting between the two sides, Marx says the Boks will have to get their focus right this week and forget about the Wellington win.
When asked if the win over the All Blacks lifted the mood in the camp, he said: “There’s always been a sort of buzz. I think the guys are a bit more positive.
“Beating New Zealand was huge for us and backing it up against Australia in PE... but that’s in the past now.
“We’ve got to focus on this week and this week only.”
The Springboks lost the last meeting between the two sides on South African soil when they went down 25-24 at Newlands last year.
The last time they beat the Kiwis in SA was in 2014 when a Jean de Villiers-led team won 27-25 at Ellis Park.
