The Lions will take the field at Loftus Versfeld for their Currie Cup semifinal tomorrow at 2pm “ready to jol”, according to prop Jannie du Plessis.
Du Plessis and his Johannesburg teammates take a short trip north for the trans-Jukskei derby, with the winner earning the right to play in next week’s Currie Cup final.
After losing their last match against their rivals 22-15 at the start of the month, the 38-year-old Du Plessis who is a World Cup winner with the Springboks in 2007, says the players must just go out there and enjoy themselves.
He says: “Now the onus is on us is to loosen the shackles and to jol.”
Opposing them will be coach Jake White’s Bulls, who not only finished at the top of the standings following the completion of the round-robin stage, but also won the Super Rugby Unlocked competition last year.
Heading into the clash, White says: “We know how to win and we have to do just that against a team that has pushed us each time we’ve played them.”
