Bayern Munich appeared set to sell Juan Bernat to Paris Saint-Germain on transfer deadline day Friday while fellow defender Jerome Boateng now seems set to stay at the Bundesliga champions and not join the French top club as well.
In another late move also involving PSG, the French champions could let now third choice goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, a member of Germany's World Cup squad in Russia, return to Eintracht Frankfurt.
A flurry of activities was not expected from the 18 Bundesliga clubs on the final day of the summer transfer window which ends at 6 pm local time (1600 GMT).
According to French reports Bernat was to undergo the mandatory medical at PSG on Friday and then put pen to paper. Germany defender Boateng was also heavily linked with PSG but according to the Bild paper the French haven't met Bayern's demand of 50 million euros (58 million dollars).
Bayern had a quiet transfer period during which they spent not a cent, with Serge Gnabry and Renato Sanches returning from loan spells and Germany midfielder Leon Goretzka arriving from Schalke on a free transfer. Sebastian Rudy went the other way early in the week.
Borussia Dortmund were the biggest spenders as they aim to reshape their team in order to challenge Munich again for the title.
They have three of the four most expensive newcomers, including Belgium midfielder Axel Witsel. Earlier in the week they also got Spain striker Paco Alcacer from Barcelona on a season-long loan, with a full transfer possible in 2019.
