Premier League fans got an early Christmas gift on Monday night when the UK government announced that some lucky punters can be back in stadiums from next month.
Up to 4 000 people can return to outdoor sports stadiums in parts of England classified as at low risk from coronavirus from December 2.
While fans will feel like laaities on Christmas Eve waiting to return to stadiums, Theo Walcott also turned back the years on Monday to score his first goal for Southampton in 15 years.
Having left his boyhood club for Arsenal in 2006, the 31-year-old joined Everton in 2018.
But he’s now back on loan at the Saints and found the back of the net in their 1-1 draw with Wolves at Molineux Stadium.
In the other match on Monday, Burnley won their first league game of the campaign to move out of the relegation zone when they beat 11th-place Crystal Palace, who were without star man Wilf Zaha due to a positive Covid-19 test, 1-0 thanks to Chris Wood’s early goal.
