Cape Town City have made Fagrie Lakay vas ahead of Saturday’s MTN8 quarterfinal against Orlando Pirates.
The 23-year-old forward has signed a contract with the Citizens until 2024.
The Kapenaar spent last season with the club on a loan deal from Wits, but since the Students’ decision to sell their PSL franchise to TTM, Lakay and City have made the move permanent.
After struggling to settle in his new surroundings at the start of his loan, Lakay played in all but one of City’s games since lockdown.
Since becoming one of coach Jan Olde Riekerink’s go-to guys, Lakay also found his scoring touch, including a hattrick in City’s 4-2 win over Golden Arrows in the bio-bubble as City secured a shot at the MTN8 title with a six-placed finish last term.
With top goalscorer Kermit Erasmus moving on to Mamelodi Sundowns, City also tied down the club’s other striker Tashreeq Morris on a two-year extension to boost the confidence of their attack.
