Frenchman Pierre Gasly will join Red Bull from Formula
One sister team Toro Rosso next year to take the place of
Renault-bound Daniel Ricciardo, Red Bull said on Monday.
Gasly, 22 and in his first full season in the sport, will join
Dutchman Max Verstappen at Red Bull.
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner named Gasly "one of the most
exciting young drivers in motorsport" and said "we look forward to
competing in 2019 with Max and Pierre."
Gasly spoke of "a dream come true" in the Red Bull statement.
"It has been my goal to race for this Team since I joined the Red
Bull junior driver programme in 2013, and this incredible opportunity
is another step forward in my ambition to win grands prix and compete
for world championships," he said.
Red Bull had a vacancy when Ricciardo did not renew his contract
which expires after the season, and chose to move to renault instead.
