Cape Cobras star Zubayr Hamza is ready to hit the big time according to his domestic teammate Dane Piedt.
Both Piedt and Hamza played for the SA "A" team in their 1-0 series defeat to India earlier this month.
And Protea Piedt believes he has seen enough of the 23-year-old Hamza to know he will play for the national team soon.
Batsman Hamza scored 63 runs in the second innings of the first match and also added 93 runs in the first innings of the second encounter.
Piedt believes Hamza, along with Knights wicketkeeper Rudi Second has what it takes to perform at the highest level.
Piedt says: “Both he and Rudi are knocking on the door and are making the right sounds.”
Of the two matches against India, Piedt adds: “I think in the series a lack of application, soft wickets and not handling the pressure well, were the factors that contributed to the series win for India ‘A’.”
