Cape Town Blitz suffered their first defeat of this year’s Mzansi Super League when they lost to neighbours Paarl Rocks on Sunday.
Victory for the hosts at Boland Park was their first in the competition as they got over the winning mark with five wickets in the bank.
Quinton de Kock got Blitz off to a flying start after they won the toss and decided to bat first.
De Kock smashed three fours and two sixes off 16 balls for a knock of 31.
He eventually tried one big shot too many and skied the ball into the hands of Rocks captain Faf du Plessis off the bowling of Bjorn Fortuin.
Fortuin then proved to be a thorn in Blitz’s flesh, claiming a further three wickets to finish with bowling figures of 4/15.

Cape Cobras speedster Dane Paterson also starred with the ball in hand to claim bowling figures of 3/23 as Blitz failed to build on De Kock’s platform and were bowled out for just 140 runs.
And despite losing two early wickets, Rocks cruised to the winning score thanks to Du Plessis’s captain’s knock of 54, a 32 from Vaughn van Jaarsveld and Mangaliso Mosehle's unbeaten 28.
The match was Blitz’s second of the weekend after they beat Jozi Stars by 62 runs on Saturday.
In other weekend action, the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants beat Durban Heat by nine wickets on Friday and also got the better of AB de Villiers' Tshwane Spartans thanks to the Duckworth/Lewis method by seven runs on Sunday.
