England will consider unleashing their fastest attack on Pakistan on Monday by including Mark Wood after watching their opponents struggle against West Indies.
That means Wood could join Jofra Archer as England look to build on the recent 4-0 series victory over Pakistan and their tournament curtain-raiser win against South Africa at The Oval, where Archer’s new-ball prowess played such a crucial role.
Asked to what extent England took note of the manner of Pakistan’s defeat, batting coach Graham Thorpe offered a wry assessment: “We’re aware of what went on.

“We saw West Indies go pretty hard at Pakistan and every team has to work out what’s coming up in their next game.
“They looked like they roughed them up. It was interesting viewing.”

Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur, meanwhile, says: “Yes, it was a shocking start [against the West Indies].
“But we will dust ourselves off and come back strong.”
