Newlands will host the first ever final of the Mzansi Super League next weekend.
This after Cape Town Blitz secured a top spot during the round-robin phase of the tournament, even before their match against Durban Heat on Sunday.
It was neighbours Paarl Rocks that did them the favour with their win over second-placed Jozi Stars at Wanderers on Sunday afternoon.
Currently, in fourth place on the MSL log, Rocks can also book their place in the playoffs when they host third-placed Nelson Mandela Bay Giants in Paarl on Wednesday.
It was once again captained Faf du Plessis that, along with Grant Thompson, steered their team to victory on Sunday.

Du Plessis scored 61 runs off just 34 balls, with Thompson hitting an unbeaten 71 off 55 balls to guide their team to a six-wicket win at the Bullring.
Set a target of 171 after the Stars were limited to 170/6, Rocks fought hard to keep alive their title hopes alive after going down to Blitz by six wickets in Newlands' Cape derby on Friday evening.
That win sealed Blitz’s playoff spot, despite Du Plessis’s best efforts for Rocks.
Having scored 61 of his team’s 144/9 in their 20 overs, the national team’s skipper’s performance was outdone by another Protea in Quinton de Kock, who smashed 93 off 47 balls to seal the deal for Blitz with 27 balls left.
De Kock continued in that vein against Heat Sunday, scoring an unbeaten 86 at the top of Blitz’s innings to help them to 161/6 in their 20 overs.

But his heroics couldn't help the Cape team avoid defeat against the last-placed Durbanites.
Instead, it was ex-Proteas veteran Morne van Wyk and Khaya Zondo that got their team over the line.
Chasing 162 for the win, Heat lost opener Sarel Erwee for only one run.
Proteas superstar Hashim Amla then joined Van Wyk in the middle as the pair shared a 35-run second wicket stand before Amla was clean bowled by Mohammad Nawaz for 16.
Zondo (67) and Van Wyk (56) then klapped saam for a third-wicket stand of 79 runs to take the game away from their hosts.
An unbeaten 16 off nine balls by Proteas star David Miller ultimately got the Durban team over the line.
Pakistani allrounder Nawaz (2/21) was the only Blitz bowler to taste some success.
Coach Ashwell Prince's side will undoubtedly look to improve on this performance against whoever it is they will face in next Sunday's final.
