The Cape Cobras got their 1Day Cup campaign off to a losing start at Boland Park on Friday night.
Ashwell Prince’s manne were slow out of the blocks and the top order failed to make the most of decent starts.
Malan brothers Janneman (23) and Pieter (54), missed out on big scores, while Zubayr Hamza (49) and Isaac Dikgale (22) also couldn’t capitalise.
Only Kyle Verreynne managed a knock that showed any mastery of the conditions and bowling to score 84 off 76 balls.
That helped the Cobras to 276/6, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Warriors bettering that score with one ball to go and three wickets in the bank.
Gihahn Cloete struck 111 off 127 balls while he and young Matthew Breetzke (54 off 94) put up 110 runs for the first wicket.
Up-and-coming batsman Sinethemba Qeshile took the visitors to the brink of victory with a List A debut 54 off 56 balls but he was run out in the final over before the Warriors got over the line.
Meanwhile, Dolphins veteran Vaughn van Jaarsveld’s match 124 was a match-winning effort in a showdown with Lions star Reeza Hendricks’ 130 in a 19-run victory over the visitors in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, the hosts amassed 342/6 before restricting the Lions to 323/9.
Sunday, the Titans made a massive statement when they chased down the Knights’ 262/5 with 11.2 overs to spare to seal a nine-wicket victory.
After the Titans but their visitors into bat, Kevin Petersen (107*) and Ryan McLaren (80*) lifted the Knights to their total from 88/5.
But the Titans’ Tony de Zorzi and Henry Davids (84) hit back with an opening stand of 179.
De Zorzi reached his limited-overs best of 115 not out as he and Heino Kuhn (52*) batted out the win.
