Strike bowler Beuran Hendricks is ready to blow away the West Indies in their World Cup match at the Rose Bowl on Monday (11.30am).
The 29-year-old Capetonian was called up in place of the injured Dale Steyn last week and says he will give his all to grab his second chance with both hands.
South Africa, still without a win at the tournament after three matches, must beat the Windies to stand a realistic chance of making it to the semifinal of the tournament.
And Hendricks hopes that he can be the missing link that will provide coach Ottis Gibson’s team the win.
Of his call-up, Hendricks, knowing he’s got big shoes to fill, says: “It’s a dream come true my ambitions are to perform at the World Cup.
“I have worked hard over the past couple of weeks knowing I am on standby.”
Of what he brings, Hendricks adds: “KG [Rabada] and Morri [Chris Morris], they’re the attackers. I’m not going to say I am the biggest threat, but I bring a lot of my own skills to the game.
“I am a strike bowler and I want to strike up front and make sure I have good death skills at the back end.”
