Cape Cobras spin bowler George Linde took 4/52 as they bowled out the Warriors for just 194 runs on the first day of their 4-Day Series clash at St George’s Park on Sunday.
The Proteas allrounder was well supported by Calvin Savage (2/23) and Akhona Mnyaka (2/34) as the hosts struggled to get going on what proved to be a difficult batting wicket.
Rudi Second (55) and Jon-Jon Smuts (36) were the only run getters.
The Cobras didn’t do much better with bat in hand and couldn’t have gotten off to a worst start, losing opener Janneman Malan for a duck – trapped leg before by new Protea Glenton Stuurman.
Captain Zubayr Hamza (4) and Tony de Zorzi (10) didn’t fare much better, with Pieter Malan (35*) and new Proteas Test call-up Kyle Verreynne (21*) resuming their first innings today on 72/3.
