Cape Town City were left fuming after they were held to a draw at AmaZulu by a dubious penalty.
Saturday’s PSL clash in Durban couldn’t have started on a worse note for coach Jan Olde Riekerink’s manne when the referee pointed to the spot after just three minutes.
Lehlohonolo Majoro went down after he and Taariq Fielies challenged for a high ball outside of the box and somehow the ref awarded a penalty.
Former City striker Majoro converted, but the Citizens fought back with new hitman Prince Agyemang opening his account after 40 minutes.
Played in by Abbubaker Mobara, the Ghanaian smashed his left-foot shot into the roof of the net.
And while Majoro was sent off late for a tackle on Thami Mkhize, City couldn’t force a win.
After the game, Riekerink questioned the penalty, saying: “I want to see that penalty again.
“From my point of view, it was outside the 16-metre area.”
However, the boss feels that his team should have done better to come back in the game, but lacked the patience in their play.
