What a relief for the legions of plastics around the world, as Manchester United got themselves back on track with a good win at Turf Moor.
Well, when I say a good win, under-pressure Jose needed the three points and his side controlled large parts of the game.
But Burnley were about as useful as a drunk winky at a swingers party.
They were lacking that Sean Dyche heart, the fight they’ve become famous for, the never-say-die attitude that’s made Burnley away a tricky one in recent times.
But the Red Devils did a solid job and it saved us all another Jose meltdown (daaaamn).
He even lent a smile during the post-match interview!
I’d forgotten that he’s quite a handsome fella when he’s in a good mood.
I was saying before the game that the great thing about watching United these days, is that the likes of Cardiff, Burnley and Brighton become huge fixtures, with every week providing the chance of a possible upset.
One thing that left me scratching my head was the fan protest before the game.
A plane flew over the stadium dragging a banner which read: “[CEO] Ed Woodward, a specialist in failure”?
The words are of course a reaction to Mourinho’s sulky complaints about the board not sanctioning two more players during the window.
Fam, my man has spent almost £400m on players since he arrived just the other day? £400 MILLION, I mean, surely that ain’t a bad investment from Woodward?
It’s the sort of money that can buy a complete top-end first 11, not forgetting that when Jose arrived at the club, it was littered with big-name players as it was.
Spoilt bastards, it’s obvious that the right funds have been invested, but the wrong players have been bought, or, the wrong players to click into his rigid system.
Sunday wasn’t a complete letdown for me personally, as Watford continued their great start to the season by toppling Spurs at Vicarage Road.
Always good to see Elton John jumping up and down so enthused.
He’s been 100 percent with them through thick and thin, a proper fan and a first win against Tottenham in 31 years will have had his multi-coloured knickers in an absolute twist!
Unfortunately, just as it’s all starting to hot up and we’re beginning to see squads reaching proper match fitness, we move into an international break.
I hate it, but we can look forward to a cracker on Saturday the 15th as Liverpool travel to Spurs in the lunchtime kickoff.
Leicester away is never easy and Kloppy’s side did well to take all three on the weekend, but Tottenham should provide the Scousers their first real test of the season.
It’s gonna be a cracker, as should United’s visit to Watford in that evening.
In between, Chelsea and City look like they have easy ones on paper hosting Cardiff and Fulham respectively.
In the meantime, big-up to Benni and the boys at Cape Town City, doing us proud again and hitting another final after beating Sundowns in the MTN8.
The lads also return on the 15th with a huge one at the Cape Town Stadium against Kaizer Chiefs Off to knock one out now, fantasising about Sarri-ball! See ya’ll next Tuesday.
