I see what he’s doing, Oswin Appollis is cooking!
Hit and delayed by a contract situation, the 22-year-old has always been a gem.
If things went according to plan, he should be a Bafana regular and knocking on overseas moves round-about now.
It’s frustrating to see how boardroom issues affect a young prospect.
As a 17-year old, he was set to launch as the next big star out of Ikamva.

And just like that he was frozen out and instead had to play an extra year of junior football when he should’ve been breaking into the first team.
Luke “Boere” Baartman, making his debut as a high-schooler has been a Cape Town thing since way back.
He counts legends who have walked his path, Tyren Arendse and Duncan Crowie as his mentors.
What Appollis is doing doesn’t surprise me one bit.
I don’t think anybody would say otherwise if he had been rewarded with the R100k instead of Ndumiso Mabena in their Carling KO exit against Orlando Pirates at the weekend.
Not that Mabena didn’t deserve it, he was very influential in that game, but the ou vannie Kaap was a problem for his ex-teammates and got a goal and assist.
He might have been motivated by the fact that he was let go by SuperSport United and wanted to show them what they were missing out of.
Appollis isn’t the only one that can count themselves unlucky this past weekend.
Podcaster Nkululeko my Brother said it best with his Facebook post: “Basically, in a single weekend, South African fans reminded us why they lost the privilege to vote for goal of the season.”
Referring to Siphiwe Tshabalala winning the 2016/17 Absa-lutely Awesome Goal of the Season, which rewarded fans who voted with a shirt of their favourite team monthly and some other cash prizes from sponsors Absa.
Which is the most popular team? Kaizer Chiefs.
That season, Tshabalala beat Oscarine Masuluke’s classic bicycle kick for Baroka which surprised many.
It lost credibility which was a shame, because if you asked many of those that were surprised if they voted? The responses is highly likely that they didn’t vote.
Here’s Oscarine Masuluke’s unbelievable bicycle kick goal against the Orlando Pirates.

What do they expect will happen? Players will magically get votes?
Nkululeko my Brother added: “Next season, they will lose this privilege of voting for man of the match in the Carling Knockout.”
That’s because as far as the Carling KO voting system in place is concerned: Cape Town City’s Khanyisa Mayo got most of the most votes, despite his team being dominated 3-1 by Golden Arrows.

While it might have been Appolis “ofak’ ugesi”, members of the Diski Nation that decided on Ndumiso Mabena, who will highly likely pick up a few tabs for the boys for the way they played.
Swallows’ Andile Jali was just as surprised to win it, I’m pretty sure Orlando Pirates’ Thembinkosi Lorch as well, but a nice bonus for his first game back.
Even Kaizer Chiefs’ Keagan Dolly looked like he was asking himself how, after they lost because AmaZulu defender Taariq Fielies.
Fans cry foul about the lack of involvement in the development of football in the country.
It’s pretty straightforward, watch the game and decide “ngubani ofak’ ugesi” (who lit up the game).
It’s brilliant and an awesome opportunity for fans to put their money where their mouth is.
I tried voting, but thought otherwise and remain impartial.
Eg. Orlando Pirates defender Tapelo Xoki would have gotten my vote for the opener against Cape Town Spurs.
Why? It’s my money I’m spending to vote, so I’m voting my homeboy obviously!
Fortunately he scored Pirates’ opener from the penalty spot and was solid next to the more deserving Olisa Ndah.
Ndah was prime at Orlando Stadium on Friday night but he didn’t get the award.
Do the right thing bafethu, let’s take the voting seriously.
