All of the Cape Town’s National First Division teams played away from home this past weekend.
Stellenbosch set the tone with a confident 3-1 victory over Witbank Spurs at the Puma Stadium on Saturday and jumped up to second place on the league table.
The rest of the Mother City’s outfits played on Sunday.
Ajax Cape Town also got maximum points, with a 1-0 win against TS Galaxy at Kameelrivier Stadium to go third.
But it wasn't a good day at the office for Cape Umoya and Ubuntu Cape Town, as they both lost.
Ubuntu lost 3-0 to Maccabi at Dobsonville Stadium and remain at the foot of the table, while Umoya lost 1-0 against Jomo Cosmos at Vosloorus Stadium and are now sitting on 11th place.
Should things stay as they are, Stellenbosch’s current position will be good enough for the dreaded playoff against the 15th-placed PSL team.
Umoya look good enough to retain the status, but the same can’t be said about Ubuntu who are again struggling to get going with just one point on the board after seven matches.
